Gov. Shumlin signs 13 bills on Tuesday

Gov. Peter Shumlin on Tuesday signed 13 bills that were recently passed by the General Assembly.

Among those signed into law were bills relating to election law, public records act exemptions, town charters, privacy protection, the state’s sex offender registry, and more:

• S.13, an act which will improve the efficiency and consistency of the Vermont Sex Offender Registry;

• S.115, a new law which will make it easier to have records for certain criminal convictions expunged if the conduct on which the conviction was based is no longer criminal, and if the person committed the crime before they were 25 years of age;

• S.60, a new law which will help reduce the cost of medical examinations for victims of sexual assault;

• H.18, an act which will require the Office of Legislative Council to compile, update and post periodically a list of statutory Public Records Act exemptions.

• H.11, an act relating to the membership of the Commission on Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders;

• H.477, an act relating to miscellaneous amendments to election law;

• H.494, an act relating to approval of the adoption and codification of the charter of the Town of Weybridge;

• H.497, an act relating to approval of amendments to the charter of the Town of Colchester;

• H.499, an act relating to approval of the adoption and codification of the charter of the Town of Salisbury;

• H.508, an act relating to approval of amendments to the charter of the Town of Middlebury;

• S.18, an act relating to privacy protection;

• S.41, an act relating to developing a strategy for evaluating the effectiveness of individual tax expenditures; and

• S.72, an act relating to binding arbitration for state employees.
